Diving into the Adventure

Steven Haining’s love for underwater photography started in 2015 when he began taking pictures for surfboard companies along California’s beautiful coastline. But it was during the tough times of the pandemic that an idea sparked. Joking with his team about wearing scuba gear because of COVID-19, Steven’s playful comment turned into a chance to capture stunning pictures in an amazing underwater place.

The Search for the Perfect Model

Choosing the right model for this exciting adventure was really important, and Steven found the perfect fit in Ciara Antoski. Ciara loves pushing boundaries and trying new things in photography. She was already an expert diver, which gave her a head start. Still, a lot of practice was needed, like learning to stay underwater for a long time and getting the perfect poses even in cold water. Ciara practiced a lot and learned to hold her breath for a long time, which was super important.

Overcoming Dive Safety Challenges

Everyone’s safety was the most important thing during the whole photoshoot. Steven got help from dive safety expert Mareesha Klups, who is known for her experience in keeping divers safe. Keeping Ciara safe underwater and making sure she could communicate was tricky, but they did it. Even though it was really cold and Ciara had to rely on unseen helpers for air, her trust and determination made sure everything went well. Steven always made sure Ciara was safe and comfortable, and she could stop if she needed to. But Ciara’s strong determination inspired everyone.

Unforgettable Moments of Courage

One of the most special moments was when Ciara surprised everyone. After a really long time in the cold water, Ciara still wanted to keep going. Everyone laughed and, after making sure Ciara was okay, they started taking pictures again. They even fulfilled Ciara’s dream of exploring underwater wrecks. This amazing experience showed how strong the team’s teamwork and determination were.

Steven Haining’s underwater photoshoot is a true adventure that shows how incredible photography can be, even under the sea.
